Remembering the time difference between your home country and your location in Ecuador is fairly easy if you remember three basic facts. First, all of mainland Ecuador is in a single time zone, GMT -5 (Greenwich Mean Time minus 5 hours). Second, the Galápagos is one hour behind the mainland, GMT -6. Third, Ecuador does not have a Daylight Savings/Summer Time change. If your home country sets its clocks ahead in the Spring and back in the Fall, the time difference between it and Ecuador will change by one hour. The following lists the time differences between some Northern Hemisphere countries and mainland Ecuador.

Time Zone and Countries – Time Difference during Standard/Winter Time (hours) - Time Difference during Daylight Savings/Summer Time (hours)

- Hawaii, Aleutian Islands – U.S. -5-4
- Alaska – U.S.-4-3
- Pacific Time – U.S.-3-2
- Mountain Time – U.S.-2-1
- Central Time – U.S.-10
- Eastern Time – U.S.0+1
- Western European Time – U.K.+5+6
- Central European Time – France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands +6+7
- Eastern European Time – Finland +7+8
