Ecuador was selected as the fourth safest country in Latin America according to Gallup World Poll.

This is the result of a Project that has been implemented in the country in order to ensure national and foreign citizens’ protection by the Ministry of Tourism and the national government. This was accomplished through a security policy to reinforce national police, giving more control and protection coverage in zones of higher touristic transit around Ecuador’s four regions.

The article mentions that the “biggest leap was for Ecuador, where the number in robbery reduction, security sensation and confidence in the police considerably improved". The study published a growth for the country from 49 to 63 points from 2009 to 2013 in a scale of 100.

These results were a product of polls made to a thousand people older than fifteen years of age from each country, which allowed Gallup World to determine the degree of confidence and security that people feel where they reside.
