Pacific Coast

It is the main port of the Ecuador and the mostpopulous city in the country. It also has a variety of features that turn itinto a city representative of the Ecuadorian culture and iconic.

Definitely resettled in 1547 as a commercial ship yard and port to the service of the Spanish crown, under the name “Santiago de Guayaquil”, it has served as the main point of Ecuador’s economy. It has been the location of great revolutions and insurgencies through its history, being recognized as the 1st Ecuadorian city that became definitively independent from Spain in 1820.

The “Perla del Pacífico” (“Pacific Pearl”) is a place for of particular enchantment that has charmed Ecuadorians as well as foreigners, the city is a mix of many cultures and each one of them has contributed to make of Guayaquil what it is today.

This new train alternative connects the main touristic sites of Guayaquil’s landscape: Santay Island, the train station of Durán, Malecón (Pier) 2000 and the historical Park of Samborondón.

In this area a person may engage in nature tourism (by observing the fauna and flora), active tourism (hiking, bicycling), cultural and experiential activities, etc.

With the hop on – hop off system a tourist may board or abandon a train with the same ticket during the same day, any number of times as a tourist may seem necessary. It includes guided routes (the hop on – hop off modality) passing through the following points: Malecón (Pier) 2000 of Guayaquil

– Tomás Martínez Pier, Parque Histórico (Historical Park), Durán Train Station and Santay Island.
