Papallacta
Papallacta, belongs to the canton of Quijos, province of Napo and constitutes the entrance to the Ecuadorian Amazon from the Metropolitan District of Quito, Papallacta, it is within the zone of influence of two protected areas: Cayambe-Coca National Park and Antisana Ecological Reserve.
It is known mainly for its tourist offer identified in the thermal and medicinal waters, the páramo landscapes and the lacustrine system with more than 80 lagoons. Most of its territory (50%) corresponds to the páramo ecosystem. It also includes high Andean forest.
The main tourist attractions are: El Nevado Antisana, Laguna de Papallacta, the thermal and medicinal waters of Jamanco, Santa Catalina, Termas de Papallacta, and the lacustrine system of the sector, made up of approximately 80 lagoons located in the Cayambe-Coca National Park and the El Duende Waterfalls.
