From November 3 to 6, Ecuador attended the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, England, one of the most important fairs in the tourism industry.
Sandra Naranjo, Minister of Tourism, and 30 Ecuadorian tour operator representatives were part of the Ecuadorian delegation. Minister Naranjo held important meetings with leading international media, including The Economist, Televisión Española (Spanish TV), Wanderlust, Lonely Planet Traveler, Financial Times and Condé Nast Publications.
She also gave a press conference to promote the country’s four worlds: Galapagos, Pacific Coast, Andes and Amazon. She highlighted the 14% increase in tourist arrivals to the country, compared to 2013, emphasizing the 17% growth of tourists coming from the United Kingdom.
The stand designed with domestic products allowed Ecuador to win the "Best Stand Feature" award at WTM. The attractive use of color, aroma and flavor, including a rainbow of roses, a glass house topped with orchids and delicious chocolates made with Cacao Arriba, turned the stand of the Ecuadorian delegation a favorite among the WTM judges and attendees.
Minister Naranjo also participated in the Tourism Ministers Summit which took place in this global event and that was attended by authorities from more than 50 countries. She also attended the gala dinner of the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
Aiming at improving air connectivity, Minister Naranjo attended business meetings with several airlines, such as Air Europe and Iberia, and also held a meeting with Libra Group, an international business group that operates in five continents.
