Route of the origen of chocolate Amazon


Napo, Orellana and Sucumbíos are the Amazon provinces that have the majority of routes to appreciate fine aroma cacao plantations and process in plants. Several communities have begun worthy agrotourism initiatives in these areas.



Termas Papallacta: These hotsprings are located only 67 km from Quito, in Napo Province.

INFO: Cacao has grown in the Ecuadorian Amazon forests for 5,000 years. It was used as an offering that accompanied the dead to the afterlife. Archaeologist Francisco Valdez discovered that the Palanda community prepared a cacao beverage two thousand years before the Aztecs cultivated cacao.
