Popularly known as red mangrove crab, it has always been one of the favorite delicacies in Guayaquil. Long before the Spanish conquest (1526) pre-Hispanic inhabitants of the Puna island and the Gulf of Guayaquil used to eat all kinds of seafood, being this crustacean one of them.
